Ornament Box Project

As gifts this year, my mom and I are making ornaments (actually a scraplift from the ornaments in the Stampin UP Fall/Winter catty, page 178), but I wanted to also make cute boxes to give them in. So here is one idea I came up with:

This box was made with one sheet of 12X12 for the box and one 6.25X6.25inch paper for the lid. These pp's are both from last years Provo Craft christmas paper pack. The stamps used are from the Stampin' UP Winter Post set. The Snowflakes are stamped on the paper. The skaters are stamped onto SU Kiwi Kiss cardstock (In color 08-09) using Old Olive craft ink and heat embossed with clear powder. I cut them out using my Sizzix machine and a scallop tag die. Then I just finised it off with some red ribbon.

The box itself is quite simple to make. Draw lines dividing the 12X12 piece of paper into 9 squares that are 4X4inches. Then fold all of the sides toward the center one at a time.Cut along the lines as shown:
When forming the box, just fold the flaps inside the adjacent side of the box. I left the sides unsealed.
The lid is made slightly larger than the box so that it will fit, but not too tightly. Measure 1inch on every side of the box, fold, and attach the corners (I did this by cutting in the same pattern as above and attaching the flaps to the inside of the adjacent side).
