Stampin' With Sami Lesson: Top Note Box Tutorial

Each Saturday, I hope to have a Stampin' With Sami (SWS) Lesson for you -in the form of a tutorial with step-by-step photos. It will either be a fancy technique or a cool new way to use a product. The purpose of me bringing your these mini workshops is to hopefully convince you to become one of my lovely customers :O)

Today I have a special BONUS Tutorial for you :O) This tutorial is how to make my little Top Note Box!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

• 2 sheets if 8.5X11 Stampin' UP Kraft cardstock (or color of choice)
• Scoring tool/bone folder
• Big Shot machine
• Top Note Die
• Adhesive
• Hobby Blade or Scissors
• Embellishments to decorate your box as desired when completed
  

STEPS:
1. Cut out two Top Note die cuts from Kraft Cardstock. Trim another piece of Kraft cardstock to measure 3.75X7.75inches.
2. Score your rectangle piece of cardstock at 2inches from the edge of the longest sides, so your scores will actually be short (as shown in the photo above)

3. Along the other side, score .5inches from the edge on the shortest side so your score marks will be parallel to the longest sides.


4. Fold in the sides and cut edges off where the score lines intersect, like shown above.
5. Fold in the smaller flaps and your rectangle should look like one in the above photo.


6. Score top notes like shown above, .5inch from the ends on one side.

7. Assembled your box using strong adhesive.

8. Your finished Top Note box should look like the one above :O) Decorate as desired!

Welcome to the World Card

OK I am POOPED out today so I am going to hold off on my second tutorial until tomorrow. I finished writing a term paper AND entered a design contest and now I am tired! LOL

Instead, my project today is a lovely "old world" looking card using a Doodle Beans digital stamp! I have been hard a work getting some designs made for my DT work. I love the world image!!

Stampin' With Sami Tutorial: Stamping on Candles

Sorry I don't have step by step photos to share yet! My uncle is visiting (asleep!) and so I can't go dinking around in the scraproom and get my photos uploaded. I hope to get the photos added tomorrow!

The cool thing about these candles is YOU CAN STILL LIGHT THEM!!!!! They are safe to use after you decorate them!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Heating Tool
Stamp of your choice (santa is from the Stampin' UP Just Beclause stamp set)
Basic Black Classic ink
Tissue Paper
Pillar Candle, mine is vanilla scented! :O)
Stampin' UP markers if desired
wax paper
scrap paper
scissors

STEPS:
1. Stamp your image onto tissue paper with scrap paper under your tissue paper. The scrap paper will absorb the extra ink since the tissue paper is thin.
2. Color in your stamped image with Stampin' UP markers if desired.
3. Cut out around the stamped image, you don't have to get close, just cut out around the image somewhat close to the edges of the image.
4. Turn your candle on it's side and place your stamp image where you would like it to be on your candle.
5. Cover the area tightly with your wax paper, waxy side against the candle.
6. Gently heat with the heating tool until the tissue paper melts into the candle. This does not take very long so be careful.
7. Let the candle sit a second or two and then gently unwrap the wax paper from the candle.

And voila! you have a decorative candle!!! I am making these for my first ever vendor fair booth and I have about 10 made already. It doesn't take very long once you get the hang of it :O)

A Candle Just Beclause

Happy day after Thanksgiving!! We got up at the crack of dawn and shopped till we dropped! We really racked up. Johnny didn't want anything, but my mom was after a laptop and I wanted a few select items as well.

I am happy to say that I am coming to you from a brand new laptop!!! My laptop has been so awful for the past year or so (we've reformatted it TWICE with no luck or improvement). Sadly it is just too old and crusty. The new laptop was actually a doorbuster item from Staples and I am loving it! It is an HP, and my favorite thing so far is that it has a ten key!!!

I got quite a few items as well, but more on that later. . .

For now, I wanted to share today's super awesome crafy project with you. This project is part of Just Beclause Week. (Click on My Specials at the top of the blog for my weekly special.)

Cuddly Top Note Box

Happy Thanksgiving!! My family and I have been spending the day together. We took a little break to run to the local craft store that was opened this evening!! I was so excited to see my best buddies Cindi and Stephanie there! Hi girls!! I love y'all!!

For today's project, I have my I'm a Big Shot Challenge project for you!

This week's challenge is to make a Big Shot Box!! I will have a tutorial for you on Saturday :O)

• The box is made from Kraft cardstock using the Top Note Bigz die and I just decorated the front of the box.
• The stamps are all from Stampin' UP Cold & Cuddly stamp set. They are stamped in Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Real Red, and Old Olive Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.
• The patterned paper is from the Stampin' UP Holiday Lounge paper pack.
• The bow is made with Stampin' UP Whisper White taffeta ribbon.
  

Inside the box we've got dark chocolate Reese's cups, white chocolate Reese's cups, and Nuggets that are dark chocolate with almonds.

Hello everyone! I hope you are ready for Thanksgiving! Can you believe it is almost here?! This year just flew by!!

Last week was my last week on the Practical Scrappers team so and I am so sad to say goodbye to them :O( Practical Scrappers is a GREAT challenge blog and I was so happy to be part of their team. I will continue to play along from time to time because I just love their challenges and ideas.

Today I have a very simple Cricut Wednesday project for you. This project is for Just Beclause week as well! Be sure to check out my special this week (click on My Specials at the top of my blog!)

This project was designed with the Just Buggin' Challenge #13 in mind! Challenge #13 is the Sew It challenge so I used lots of faux stitching on my card:

• The santa hat was cut from the Cricut Joys of the Season cartridge using Whisper White cardstock and glitter polka dot paper from My Mind's Eye (Maybe from the Lovenest stack or the Signature Christmas Stack, not sure now that I think about it! LOL I am leaning more towards Lovenest. . .).
• My sentiment is from the Stampin' UP Just Beclause stamp set. I stamped it and then punched it out using the Stampin' UP Modern Label punch.
  
• All of my faux stitching was done with the Stampin' UP Bravo Burgundy marker. Stampin' UP Markers are great for faux stitching because they have that extra fine tip end on them. I usually use the brush tip for coloring, but the fine tip really comes in handy for details.
• The cardstock for the card is Bordering Blue and Kraft cardstock. The patterned paper panels in the background are from the My Mind's Eye Signature Christmas stack (with glitter).

Stamp Set of the Week Reveal: Just Beclaus

Stamp Set of the Week Reveal is a little late this week :O)

Holidays

I am so excited to share another bit of news with you today!! I am going to be reviewing some Rachael Ray bakeware from CSNstores! This is perfect because during the holidays, I spend a lot of time baking!

I LOVE Rachael Ray and can't wait to test out her bakeware!

Since Thanksgiving is around the corner, I wanted to take a moment and share some of my family's holiday traditions with you :O)

The day after Thanksgiving we spend the morning shopping bright and early. Then we eat breakfast out and come home for a nap! In the evening, we always decorate the Christmas Tree! We use a fake tree because my mom is severely allergic to the real ones (makes her look like a strawberry!). My favorite thing is getting together and spending time putting up the Christmas decorations and doing some holiday baking.

We decorate pretty much the whole house with decorations! We have many handmade ornaments and it is so fun to get them out every year. I love remembering back when we made each ornament or when we bought it. Decorating the tree is a very special time for our family.

Later in the season, we always bake cookies and lots of the holiday season is spent in the kitchen together. Cooking and baking is a family event in this household!

I am so excited to get my new bakeware right in time for the holidays!!

I resigned!

After major girly drama, I decided to resign from the Challenge Masters team. I was on their cards team, but there is too much happening behind the scenes so I had to walk away from the negativity. I am no longer a part of their DT and I will not be participating in their challenges. I am saddened by my decision, but it was the only choice I feel I could have made.

I pride myself with being on teams that I feel are uplifting, supportive, and GREAT. I am so proud to be on the lovely design teams that I am on. They are all great teams, and I feel my work on those teams is welcomed and encouraged. Design teams are supposed to be fun experiences for all.

With that said. . . I have TWO other announcements to come today so stay tuned!! :O)

This is a tall card I made for Kandi's challenge for Finally Friday over at SPCC. I also used the I'm a Big Shot challenge for this one :O)

The frame was cut out with the Big Shot and then I embossed it with the Small Polka Dots Texturz plate (Part of the Backgrounds I set of Texturz plates)! Love polka dots!!

The tree and star are from the Stampin' UP Patterned Pines stamp set. Love it!!!!!! I had so much fun with this stamp set this week!!

The sentiment is from the Stampin' UP Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. The ribbon is Pretty In Pink striped Grosgrain. And the patterned paper is from the Kaleidoscope designer paper pack.
