50 Days of Christmas: Day 26: The SALE!!

Hello everyone!

Well. . . I had planned on finishing up a project last night and again tonight, but I have been babysitting a sweet little baby, who happens to be sick. She is so precious, but I am totally pooped!! I have been working overtime the past few days juggling the end of school, studying for finals, babysitting, and shipping orders.  So rather than posting my project, I am going to start my sale early!!  I had planned to have this sale starting later in the week, but today is the day!! I will be back tomorrow with a project if all goes well.

THE 50 Days of Christmas SALE:
Receive 10% off your entire order at SP and Company from now until December 11th at midnight EST.  Use the coupon code 50DAYS to receive your 10% off!

AND

Guest Post Monday

Hello all! Today, I have a guest post from my dear friend, Linda! She is on the SP Stamps Design Team and she is here to show you her awesome style. The color combo challenge will be up later this afternoon.

Hi All, Linda Lapotka here. I am a guest designer at SP & Company. I am so excited about Samantha’s new stamps. They are made with high quality clear photopolymer. They give a nice clean impression and I LOVE them.
I used Christmas Emma and used my favorite fold called “Step Card” for this card.
You can find the directions here for the fold.

The paper is from Stampin Up called Deck the Halls
I used Copic markers to color the image. Then I added red Stickles to Emma’s hat and Glassy Accents to the candy cane. I tied some gold striped ribbon I had around the side to give the impression that I tied on the candy canes. The sentiment is from the same set, “Christmas Emma.”

The reason I love this fold is that it can stand up and be a decoration. This is the Christmas card I am making for all my puppy loving friends. Emma will bring joy to all of them.

Here are the measurements for the card:
Base card stock 5.5 X 8.5
Score 4.25
On long edge go in 3.5 and cut with blade from 1.25 up to 6.25 in.
Turn score 1.25 up to cut line, 2.25, 3.25, (4.25 is done)
Turn to opposite end and score at 2.25
Then fold all the score lines in accordion style.

50 Days of Christmas: Day 25: Dalmatian Emma Card

Hello again!

Make sure to check THIS POST (click here) to check and see if you are my lucky winner from the blog hop. I also posted another project earlier today so make sure to check that out as well.

Now tonight, I want to give you all the lovely details from the card part of the project I made for the iCopic blog as their part in the blog hop. I know you have already seen this project, but I wanted to give you all the details because this card is GOOD, if I do say so myself :)

I say it is GOOD, because I am so proud of that cute little Dalmatian Emma I made! If you have ever taken a gander at my sidebars (which I hope you have), then you have seen my precious little Emma along with my other beautiful babies. Well Emma is actually almost completely black, so this really looks nothing like her.

The dog on the card is from the SP & Company - Christmas Emma Stamp Set.
It was colored in with Copic markers in the following colors: C1, C3, C7, R27, R29, E31, and B02.

The E31 was used for airbrushing the background on the tag shape.

So let's talk Copics for a little bit. This is how I colored the doggie image:

I tried to make Emma's spots look like Dalmatian spots so I used the Copic marker color C7 to make the spots. I tried to make the spots various sizes.

When I do any Copic coloring, I always have to think about where I want to place shadows, highlights, and the light source (I will be discussing these things in extreme detail during my Tips and Tricks Tuesday segment over on the iCopic blog). Today, I just want to explain my shadowing technique I used on this image.

If the image were actually 3d (so imagine a real dog in front of you wearing an over-sized Santa hat), then the Santa hat would be making shadows on the dog (on its back, ear, and head). With the dog's head leaning out, there might even be a shadow on its neck. And also, the dog has its little feet and tail tucked under its body, so they would have a shadow on them too. With those things I mind, I started adding shadowy areas in those places using C1 and C3.

Now I don't know if all Dalmatians have blue eyes, but I decided to give this one a blue eye with the Copic B02.

And finally, the hat was colored in with R27 and R29. When shading with reds, my only advice is to use a VERY LIGHT touch! A little red goes a long way and the more you add, the harder it is to blend it.

Other card details:
The background paper on this card was made with some paper from Echo Park's Everybody Loves Christmas collection. LOVE LOVE their paper!!

The tag shapes were made using the Cricut Winter Frolic cartridge.

The merry Christmas pattern was drawn onto the white paper using the Amy Chomas Mini Gel Pen Holder for the Cricut machine. This shape is from the Simply Sweet cartridge.

The sentiment on the card was stamped from the Ultimate Sentiments I Stamp Set. I used the Stampin' UP word window punch on the Stampin' UP Old Olive cardstock.

The final touches on my card were done with the Stampin' UP Scallop Border Punch, some Real Red Satin ribbon, and some green ribbon from American Crafts.

50 Days of Christmas: Day 24: Cocoa Box

**I  am on a ProvoCraft/Cricut Boycott! They won't get another dime from me!  Got a Cricut? Well use it! Don't have one yet? Consider a different  machine!! Click here for more details about my boycott and how I got here!! You can join the boycott too!**

Hey everyone!!

This is my project I had planned to share with you yesterday, but I didn't get the green light until after I had already went to bed for the night (I went to bed early)! LOL  Anyway, so we are going to still count this at Day 24, and later today I will be back with Day 25's project AND a Blog Hop Winner!!

If you have noticed, I have a new button under my design team section. I am a WEEKEND WARRIOR over at the Creative Critters Imagine Blog. I was absolutely honored that Tammy chose me to be a part of the new Imagine Blog. Each month, I am going to be sharing one extra special project over there.

Today, I am going to share with you another cute little treat box using your Imagine Machine. These could be made for co-workers, chidren, children's teachers, holiday party favors, and more! These are so simple to make, but they really have a wow factor!

I used my Cricut Imagine and the Best Friends Imagine cartridge, along with two Originals cartridges: Winter Frolic (for the tag shapes) and Don Juan (for the letters). More details are below.

The tutorial for the box can be found by clicking here!. I designed these little goody boxes to hold 4 packets of cocoa mix.

The tag shape is from Winter Frolic. I used the Tag function key and used the shadow layer for the tag. This shadow tag is repeated multiple times throughout the cartridge. I cut the patterned paper layer at 4inches tall. Then using the exact same shape, I cut the white layer at 4.25inches tall.

The little girls were cut at 3inches tall from the Best Friends Imagine cartridge. I didn't change any of the colors on any of the layers for these ones.

And for letters for the names, I used the Don Juan cartridge. The first letter in each name was cut at 1.5inches tall. Then the rest of the letters were cut at 1inch tall. I also cut out the shadow for each letter using white cardstock.

Here are some more close up photos:
Finally, to finish off the boxes, I used some ribbon! People always ask me how I tie my bows so I have made a bow tying tutorial for you!! Click here to see my bow tying video!.

Here is a view of the back:

Now, I don't know about you, but my family always does something special for the dogs and cats in the family (and we even give little goodies to the pets of our close family friends. So using the same goody box, I just changed out the tags for pet images from the Best Friends cartridge. Then I filled the little cello bags with animal friendly treats!

All of the measurements for the cuts are exactly the same as the tags I made above. The cat and dog were both cut at 3inches tall.

When it gets closer to Christmas, I will be baking our dogs homemade doggie biscuits, but for now, I put Beggin' Strips into their goody bags.
(We don't have cats, but imagine cat treats in the bag above, wouldn't that be darling!?)

50 Days of Christmas: Day 23: Cocoa Box

Hello everyone!!

I hope you have had a happy and fun day of Black Friday shopping!! My mom and I went shopping this year (Johnny didn't want to tag along so it was just us girls). It was a lot of fun!! We had a great time and got some really good stuff (most of which was boring house stuff, like large storage containers, bedding sets, and Christmas decor).

**A Couple of reminders for you:**
  • There is still time to play along with the Blog Hop sketch challenge. See the sketch and enter here!!
  • Yesterday, I posted a very important survey that I hope you will take a moment and take. I would love to hear your valuable feedback for how to improve my blog and my business and in return, one lucky survey taker is going to win an awesome prize! Click here to take the survey.
For Day 23 of the SP 50 Days of Christmas, I made a tutorial for you all! This is the tutorial to make the little Cocoa goody box that I designed for iCopic for the Kickin' Off Christmas Blog Hop. I experimented with my Scorpal to make this custom box to hold the little cocoa packets. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out, and I want to share the box tutorial with you.

Here is my project from the hop (complete details on the card will come on Sunday):

This little box holds 4 cocoa packets just perfectly.
Sami's Cocoa Goody Box Tutorial
Supplies Needed:
  • Scoring tool (I used a Scorpal, I don't score well without it!)
  • Cardstock (I used an 8.5X11inch sheet)
  • Patterned Paper
  • Strong Adhesive (I used my Adtech Glue Runner, given to me by the lovely people at Adtech)
  • Ribbon/embellishments
  • Cello Bag (The one I used came from Michaels in the baking section and I am sure they have similar baggies other places, These ones are Celebrate It Treat Bags "25 Clear Bags with Ties", 4X2X9.5inches, there were two sizes at my store and these are the longer style)
 Steps:
1. Cut cardstock to measure 8X10 inches.

2. Score as shown in the photo at the following places.
Complete Score marks (scoring across the whole sheet of paper):
Vertical (Up and Down): All the way across at 3inches and at 7 inches  (which is 3 inches from each edge)
Horizontal (Left and Right): All the way across at 3inches and 5inches (which is again 3 inches from each edge)

Incomplete Score Marks (not all the way across the cardstock): To make these 4 little score marks, I scored only the top sections at 2inches and 8inches. Then I turned the paper 180 degrees and scored repeated the same score marks on the opposite sides.

3. Trim off the squares in all 4 corners. Cut and score the rest as shown below:

4. Trim patterned paper to measure 2.75X3.75inches. Add patterned paper to the front flap. Add adhesive to the flaps as shown:

5. Assemble the box as shown below. Embellish as desired with ribbon or other embellishments and then fill with cocoa!
And that's it! Aside from the scoring, it is super easy to make these! I think I ended up making about a dozen of these to give away.

50 Days of Christmas: Day 21: Snow! Layout

Hey everyone!!

Today has been a rough day, to say the least. I am a migraine sufferer with severe migraine disease and I have been getting Botox treatment for Migraine prevention every 3 months. Well this morning was my 5th treatment. The 5th one hurt just as bad as the first :(

It only took until the 5th one for me to actually count how many injections I was receiving. I am sure it probably varies slightly from treatment to treatment, but today I received 41 injections (around my neck, forehead, sides of my head, and base of my head).

So I came home and took it easy. Layed in bed and read, then took a nap.  I will be sore for the next few days, but more importantly practically MIGRAINE FREE for at least 3 more months!!! WAHOO!!

And I tell you all this, why? Because I know many of you are also migraine sufferers and I want you to know that the Botox treatments really worked for me! My hope is that someone will read this and ask their doctor about it and hopefully get relief!

Enough migraine talk! Let's talk 50 Days of Christmas. Since we are preparing for Thanksgiving dinner, I had to clear my scrapbook stuff off the dining room table and was not able to craft for the last couple of days. BUT I have been playing around with digi scrapping using My Memory Suite!! This is a digital program from one of my brand new affiliates! Please click on their link under my advertisers and affiliates section to see this awesome program. It is actually really affordable and user friendly.

Tonight I made this little beauty:
I saved it with the wrong settings so the image isn't very crisp, but you get the idea :)

These are photos from a snowy day.  The papers and most of the elements I used are digi papers and elements from Echo Park's All I want for Christmas digi collection, available at Jessicasprague.com

Make sure to stop by the SP and Company store ASAP because I am offering a sale you are not going to want to miss!! SP and Company stamps are on sale along with American Crafts Thickers, Echo Park Papers, and Basic Grey papers!!
PROJECT:
For my blog hop project. I made a little goody bag for Christmas cookies, since giving out Christmas cookies is one of my favorite parts of Christmas. These little gingerbread men cookies go so perfectly with the SP and Company Cutest Gingerbread Man Stamp set.  The little tag was made using the Cricut Gingerbread cartridge.
The little gingerbread man and sentiment are both from the Cutest Gingerbread Man Stamp set. I stamped the gingerbread man and then used my Copics from the iCopic store to color him in. The brown part was colored with the Copic airbrush system!! So fun and easy!!

The little gingerbread house did not have a layer shape so I just cut the same base layer two times. For the pink cardstock base layer, I cut at 4.5inches and then for the patterned paper base layer, I cut at 4inches. Then the pink icing layer was cut at 4inches (with the Real Size Dial button OFF) so that it fit perfectly inside the patterned paper layer.

The striped patterned paper is from Echo Park it is: Everybody Loves Christmas Collection Candy Cane Patterned Paper.

The cookies were placed into a cello bag and tied with a pretty bow using saddle stitch ribbon from PaperTrey Ink.

This is a very simple, easy gift to give away at Christmas parties and I am sure they would be a great hit with the kiddies.
