Best Husband Card

Hi everyone!

Tonight, I have a quick little card for you. This is a card I made for my new hubby.
I used some stamps from the Mix 'N Match: Family stamp set. The sentiment is made up of three separate stamps("Best", "Husband", and "Ever") so you can arrange them any way you want and use any color ink you want. To write the "to the" I used a Copic Multiliner SP from iCopic.com

The card base is Vintage Cream cardstock from Papertrey Ink. The red glitter paper is from a DCWV winter/christmas cardstock stack from 2010.

The postage stamp is one of the cardstock stickers from the Echo Park Be Mine collection.

Amber's Fun Friday Guest Post

Hello everyone :)  Amber here! I'm happy to be back at Scrapmaster's Paradise to share another project with you.

This week I thought I'd do a fun little St Patrick's Day card.

I started off with a 3 inch square card made out of Kraft cardstock.  I rounded the corners on a 1/4 inch setting with my Corner Chomper.

To build my shamrock I used
Artsy Heartsy .  I found a pattern I liked, and stamped that heart 4 times on white piece of cardstock using Glorious Green.  Then I cut them out and set them aside.

Before I attached my shamrock, I wanted to stamp my sentiment.  I love all the new Mix 'n Match sets from SP & Company.  They give you so much freedom to personalize your greetings to be anything you want them to be.  Another GREAT thing about them is that since the stamps are separate it's easy to play with color.  For my sentiment I chose to make the word "Awesome" green to stand out from the rest of the sentiment.

I did use several sets to spell out "Wishing you an awesome
St Patrick's Day"  The sets work very well together.  You can do a lot with one, but when you collect them all the possibilities seem almost endless.

"Wishing You An" is from
Mix 'N Match: Occasions
"Awesome" is from Mix 'N Match: Friends
"St Patrick's Day" is from Mix 'N Match: Holidays

I started off at the bottom of the sentiment and worked my way up.

For the final step, I attached my hearts in the shape of a shamrock using Pop Dots.

These would be easy and fun to mass produce :)

Remember to play with your stamps and create new and interesting shapes with them.  You'll be amazed what you can come up with when you sit down, get your hands inky, and play.

My Wedding Announcements

Hi everyone!

Well, the majority of my wedding announcements have been sent out and made it to their destinations so it is time to share what they look like!  I still have about 10 that need to be mailed out (had to make more and print more photos, this is the third batch of them LOL).

Here is the mess  I made as I got the first round of wedding announcements made.  I made about 40 in the first batch, then lost count! LOL

Here is the outside and the photo that I included:

Here is the inside:

And here is a close up of the front:

Announcement details:
  • The card base is Melon Mambo cardstock. The front piece is Pretty in Pink cardstock.
  • The stamps are from the Stampin' UP Baroque Motifs stamp set and the P is from a Technique Tuesday alphabet stamp set.
  • Inside the little flowers, I added an adhesive pearl from Stampin' UP.
  • The inside paper was printed out off of the computer.

Hey everyone!

Whew it has been such a fun but long day! I have some mini pound cakes in the oven right now and got my first free time of the day to come here and post this for ya! Today is Tuesday and now Tuesday means it is USE IT TUESDAY!!

My friend Siobhan and I collaborated and created a new challenge blog based on my past blog segment which challenged my readers to USE IT. Now, you will see a new challenge two times a week.

Here is my card for this week's challenge over at Use It Tuesday.

I pulled out some of my much cherished patterned papers from Stampin' UP to create this beauty. I also used one of my most cherished SP and Company stamp set called Lovely Labels. This stamp set is such a gorgeous stamp set.

Positively Positive

Hi everyone!!

I don't have a project for you today. Instead, I want to take this opportunity to talk about something that has been on my mind for a while. . . positivity! In my recent survey, many people actually indicated that they enjoyed the personal glimpses into my life so I am going to try to offer more of those from time to time. This is one of those times. . .

The past few weeks have been a little difficult in the Strachan-Peyton household -mold issues (which is now fixed), leaking pipe (which will be fixed early next week), painting the bedroom (and due to the mold issues having to re-do my re-do LOL), tough decisions for the hubby about his graduate school future (masters, PhD, fellowships, research, internships, etc), having to cancel a fun trip, and well, you get the idea.

So I have been left with a decision to make. Will I let these events stress me out and bring me down or will I remain positive and find the good things about these trying situations. I could feel myself getting stuck in a rut and looking at only the negative parts. And that can be a downward spiral.

Well, in the end I chose positivity. I believe in the power of positive thinking. I tend to pick up on the energy (positive or negative) of the people around me and it is very easy for me to get caught up in the negativity. I tend to avoid very negative people for this very reason. And lately, I have needed more positive energy than usual.

In my quest for positive energy, I came across two very good resources that I want to share with you: A nice book and a nice website.

THE BOOK

The book is called What Happy Women Know by Dr. Dan Baker and Dr. Cathy Greenberg. There are other books that go along with this book, but I haven't read those. When I started this book, I was HOOKED. Some of the information is common sense (for example, money doesn't buy happiness), but some of it really hit me like a ton of bricks.

Having a degree in psychology, I appreciated the explanations in the book that were a little sciencey (not too much, they explain things pretty simply) and based on actual research and data. The book is based on a positive psychology perspective, which is a new perspective to me (it is a relatively new school of thought in the psychology world and most of my classes were about clinical psychology).

There is a whole chapter about perfectionism, which is one of the sections that hit me. I never considered myself a perfectionist, but turns out, I am wrong! I related to pretty much every single word in that chapter!

I set deadlines for myself (blog post at a certain time, have dinner made by a certain time, etc) and then beat myself up if they are not met, which is just totally ridiculous. I do the best that I can and that should be good enough! So I am going to try to live it.

This book has caused me to re-evaluate some of the things I am doing, and I am going to try to take charge of my own positivity more. Which brings me to the nice website I found.

THE WEBSITE

I decided to look on the internet for other things related to positive psychology and came across ThankfulFor.com .

This is basically a simplified version of Twitter (and much easier to use, LOL, I can't figure Twitter out!! HA HA), but you only post about what you are thankful for.  And then you can go in and see what other people are posting that they are thankful for. The website is based on the idea of a gratitude journal (which is something positive minded people recommend that you write in each day and that helps your mind see the positive things in life).

I am going to be using this website to keep track of my positive thinking progress. In the book (mentioned above) it tells you to write down 5 things each day so I am going to try do just that. I linked it to my sidebar, not for you (well of course you are welcome to read mine and make your own), but so that I can keep track of it for myself. If I see it there, hopefully I will be more tempted to actually use it.

THE TAKEAWAY

In my positive quest, I have decided to be wholly committed to being the most positive person I can be. Yes, bad things happen, and yes they will continue to happen, but the important part is what I can take away from the situations and how I choose to carry myself. I am trying to let go of worry about imperfections and just do the best that I can.

So why am I telling you all this???

Because I hope that you choose happiness and positive thinking too! It makes you feel better, it makes other people feel better, and it can even add years to your life.

To me, this is about being a happier person. The past few years have been incredibly difficult because of school and now that I am a college graduate, I intend to take time to let myself be a happier person.

I hope that in reading this, you can take away something valuable for yourself.

Filled with Color Card

Hi everyone!!  Today I have a happy-go-lucky type card for you. I am using my brand new SP and Company stamp set called Lucky Day.

I made this card for the iCopic blog for yesterday.

The rainbow was colored in with the following Copic colors (all of which are sold at iCopic):
  • Purple Layer: BV02, BV04, and BV13
  • Blue Layer: B00, B02, and B05
  • Green Layer: YG11, YG06, and G14
  • Yellow Layer: Y02, Y06, and Y08
  • Orange Layer: YR00, YR07, and YR16
  • Red Layer: R00, R29, R59
To get the very lightest area in the center of the rainbow, I used the colorless blender (number 0) to push the color towards the ends of the rainbow.

And as you can see, the red part ran a little bit because I colored it too quickly after the yellow layer and my yellow layer wasn't all the way dried yet!  When coloring with Copics, you do have to be a little patient and let touching areas dry before coloring them.

That's all for now, folks! I am working on a post for tomorrow about something that is very near and dear to my heart. It isn't your usual SP type of post, but I hope you will enjoy it!!  Hope you have a great weekend!

SP Episode 37: Stamps!

Hi folks!!

I have some great news! It turns out that the mold in our closet is isolated only to the closet so the mold guy won't be ripping up my beautiful newly painted bedroom walls!!! I was so relieved to find out that the mold wasn't more serious. Life should be getting back to normal very soon.

Today, I was very productive and got two videos edited and uploaded. These videos have been waiting to be edited for quite some time. The first video is shown below! It is just a little glance at the SP and Company Stamps & Packaging. Some people had been asking for a closer look at the stamps so here you go:
