Fun Friday with Emily!

Happy Friday everyone! Sam has let me take over the blog for the day.

Allow me to introduce myself.

I'm Emily!

I am one of the new SP & Company Stamp design team members. I met Sam a few years ago when we were both members of a kit club. I also was on the first SPCC design team.

On to Fun Friday...

Did you happen to notice the blog makeover?
That vivid pink. The most gorgeous Tiffany blue.

Well..I did and it inspired my latest fabric flower bobby pins.
I started creating these adorable little hair pins with the idea of dressing up my niece's hair. But... I have to say...I have ended up wearing them just as much as she does. You can see what I am
talking about here. I sell them at a local baby boutique and now am selling them through my blog. And...for the rest of April and the month of May, I am offering free shipping to anywhere in the u.s.

Since I am in charge today...
I've decided to have a giveaway.

How would you like to win a set of SP & Company inspired fabric flower bobby pins?

I am giving away a set to one lucky follower. Here is how to enter:

1. Become a follower of my blog.

2. Leave a comment here letting me know what your favorite SP & Company Stamp Set is.

The giveaway will close Friday, May 6, 2011 at midnite EST and I will randomly select a winner Saturday.

So...what are you waiting for...start following and commenting stamps.
Happy Friday everyone!!

The Wonderful Life of Max

Hello everyone!!

I hope all my buddies here in the south made it through all the nasty storms OK. We got lucky and the storms weren't too bad here, but surrounding towns have some severe damage.

Today, I am going to show you the front page of the album I made for my grandma. This album was a tribute to my grandpa, who is no longer with us. The title of the book really says it all, it is about "The wonderful Life of Max".

The background patterned paper is the Tree Tops patterned paper from Echo Park's A Walk in the Park collection.

The green polka dot pattern was a scrap I found in my stash and I am not sure where it came from. I matted the green patterned paper onto some Close to Cocoa cardstock (retired, Stampin' UP).

I used three different sets of alphas for the wording. The small black letters are from K & Company. The large black letters are felt Thickers from American Crafts. And the blue letters are glitter Thickers from American Crafts.

Design Team Wednesday & a Card

Hello friends!

Today is Design Team Wednesday and the new design team is itching to get started so some of them have joined in already this week.

Don't forget to mark your calendars because on May7th, the Meet the DT Blog Hop starts!! We are going to have 4 days of brand new projects and brand new inspiration. And on the 10th, I will release brand new stamps!!! WAHOOO! (And there may even be a prize or two *wink wink*).

Before you get started on today's hop, I have a card to share with you.

The sentiment is actually two separate stamps, from the SP and Company For Every Woman stamp set. The flower vase is also from the For Every Woman  stamp set.  IMPORTANT: For Every Woman is currently on re-order with my manufacturer because I am just about of them (one left), but they will not be back in stock for a couple of weeks.

The houndstooth paper is from DCWV.

I colored in the flower and vase with the following Copic markers from iCopic.com: RV000, RV02, B00, B02, E47, and YG06. Then I tied a cute little bow around the stem of the flower with some Divine Twine from iCopic.com (this one is called Bubblegum).

The adhesive pearl accents are from Stampin' UP.

OK Now for the really fun part. . . the hippity hop!!!  Click on each designer's name to head to their blog and see what they created for Design Team Wednesday. These ladies are absolutely fabulous designers.

Use It Tuesday #6 Project

Hello crafty folks!

Today is USE IT Tuesday! WAHOO! The challenge this time is to use some of those fasteners you have been hoarding, buttons, brads, eyelets, etc. Now don't be shy, you know you've got a lot of them :) I know I do! Tee hee!

Head on over to the  USE IT Tuesday blog and enter.

So here it is:

I used one of my most cherished fasteners. . . the corduroy button from Stampin' UP. So lovely!! I have so many of these that I will never get rid of them all. They are like treasure coins to me LOL.

The patterned paper I used is from the Echo Park Walk in the Park collection. This sheet is called Tree Tops.

I colored in the flower and Vase with the following Copic colors from iCopic.com: RV000, RV02, RV06, YG06 and E47. I accented the center of the flower and the vase with some white gel pen to give it a little extra.

To finish off the card, I added some beautiful pink Divine Twine from iCopic.com and topped it with the corduroy button.

Easter Blessings from SP!

Hello everyone!  Happy Happy Easter!!

Today, I have a happy Easter card for you. This card was made with my brand new Magnolia stamp that I got from iCopic.com, called Tilda with Hanging Rabbit! This is one from the brand new line Butterfly Dreams.

This is the FIRST EVER Magnolia stamp that I have ever owned so below I am going to talk a little big about Magnolia stamps and my first impressions.

Here is my card:
 Card Details:
  • The image is Magnolia's Tilda with Hanging Rabbit.
  • I colored the image in with the folowing Copic colors from iCopic: E00, E000*, E0000, E31, E33, E35, RV00, RV000, RV02 (used for the airbrushed background), W1, W3, W5, BG000*, BG0000,  and BG02.
    • The colors with a * beside them are brand new Ciao colors. They already came in Sketch colors, but if you are like me and prefer the Ciao markers, then you are in luck!!
  • I created the background using my Airbrush system and Air Compressor. I LOVE AIRBRUSHING!!!
  • The "Easter Blessings" sentiment was made with two of the SP and Company Mix 'n Match stamp sets: Mix 'N Match: Basics (for the "Easter") and Mix 'N Match: Occasions (for the "Blessings").
  • The patterned paper is from the Echo Park Springtime 6X6 paper pad. I just want to add, I LOVE that Echo Park started to make 6X6 paper pads, and I LOVE how they are put together. I will be showing you a video of these paper pads, because they are such great quality.
  • The pink patterned paper was punched with the Stampin' UP Scallop Edge Punch to make the cute scallops.
  • The card base is Baja Breeze cardstock.

Now, let me tell you a little about Magnolia stamps. First off, this is my first one because they are EXPENSIVE! Well, they are expensive because they are made and imported from Sweden. So being in the US, they are pricey because of shipping, duties, etc.

After having one and using it, they are worth it! They are extremely detailed images and stamp so nicely. They are great quality stamps. I was hesitant when I first received it because the rubber is not very deeply etched, but it turns out that it stamps PERFECTLY so that isn't actually a problem at all.

And one more thing I loved, this stamp came already trimmed. If you have every purchased an untrimmed rubber stamp, you will know what a luxury it is to have a pre-trimmed stamp. I HATE using scissors in the first place, and trimming stamps is a major pain.

Well there you have it folks: a new card and a Magnolia mini review. Now head over to iCopic and pick yourself up a Magnolia stamp!  I will be back tomorrow with a couple challenges for ya :) Hope your Easter is fantastic.

OMG Double Rainbow Layout

**I  am on a ProvoCraft/Cricut Boycott! They won't get another dime from me!  Got a Cricut? Well use it! Don't have one yet? Consider a different  machine!! Click here for more details about my boycott and how I got here!! You can join the boycott too!**

Happy Saturday everyone!
Today, I have a scrapbook layout to share with you. This is a fun one because these photos are some of my first photos I took with my Digital-SLR camera. I love rainbows and this ones was lovely. And I played with my Copic airbrush system from iCopic.com to make the beautiful background!!

The title of my layout makes me laugh so much!! I got the idea for the title from the rainbow loving viral video.
The patterned papers, and sticker elements (the small alphas and the photo corner) are from the Echo Park Summer Days collection kit which is part of the April monthly subscription club here at SP.  I am all out of April kits, but there is still time to sign up to receive the May kit.

For the larger alphas, I used some American Crafts Thickers. These ones are chipboard with glitter polka dots.

Now for the coolest part of my layout, the airbrush rainbow background!!! I cut out some stars of various sizes from the Cricut Once Upon a Princess cartridge and then attached them temporarily to the background. Then I airbrushed the background with the following colors:Y38, YR68, RV55, R27, BG45, and V25. Can I just say I LOVE airbrushing!!! I am so glad to be in my new scrapbook nook and so I can leave my air compressor set-up and ready to use when I want to use it.

I added a little journaling shape also from the Cricut Once Upon a Princess cartridge. On the white layer, I added the lines using a stamp from the SP and Company Scallops and Lines  stamp set.

And the cute little rainbow from the SP and Company Lucky Day stamp set. I colored the rainbow with the same colors I used for the airbrushing. I added Diamond colored Stickles glitter glue to the little cloud shape.

New Cartridges April 2011

**I  am on a ProvoCraft/Cricut Boycott! They won't get another dime from me!  Got a Cricut? Well use it! Don't have one yet? Consider a different  machine!! Click here for more details about my boycott and how I got here!! You can join the boycott too!**

Hello again! I have been digging around on google and came across some new cartridges (and some rumored upcoming ones too!). I have not been able to fine pictures of all of them yet, but if I do, I will post them here. I had someone ask why I still post photos of new carts and my answer is simple, my readers! Many of my readers are STILL using their Cricuts and buying more cartridges. I respect them and want them to get the Cricut news just the same as I have always provided here on my blog, since March 2008! I will continue to post new cartridge information as I find it.

New Cartridges:

2000926 Bump in the Night
2000927 Beep, Beep
2000928 Crocs Rule
2000937 Yeehaw
American Alphabet
Just a Note
Cricut Decals

And here are some rumored ones, but I couldn't find photos of them:
Paper Lace 2
Ornamental Iron 2
Sweet Shop
Martha Stewart Nature Cakes
Love you Latte

Here are the photos I have found though:

Just a Note Cartridge

American Alphabet Cartridge- I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this font. It is funny that PC picks the same fonts that I already use (The font on my logo and header is the exact same font that they used for Shall We Dance, a freebie font off the internet). This font looks EXACTLY like American Typewriter, one of my FAVORITE FREE fonts (and it is used on a lot of my blog buttons). . . that means I can make it myself with SCAL! YESS!!

Design Team Wednesday

Make sure to scroll down to see my project for today!

The new design team is still getting settled in, but some of them already have projects to share with you today and the two wondeful designers that are continuing on the team have some amazing projects to share with you too!!  Head over and check them out!

Doing the Bubble High Jump Layout & Monthly Contest

Hello! Happy Wednesday!!

The Wednesday newsletter is going to be late today because I am going to be doing some things this afternoon and I just didn't get to it yet!

Also, today is the first ever monthly subscription club contest!!  My lovely club members are going to receive a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the SP and Company store!!

Their challenge this month is to design TWO projects using their April kit supplies and post them into the SP gallery. Simple enough right? Each month, members will receive a fun (and easy) challenge to get them motivated to use their kit supplies.

Here is another project I made with the April supplies. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE (X a million) this cloud patterned paper! It is so fun and beautiful!
All the patterned papers and cardstock sticker accents used are from the Echo Park Summer Days collection kit which is part of the April monthly subscription club here at SP.  I am all out of April kits, but there is still time to sign up to receive the May kit.

The large alphas are vinyl Thickers from American Crafts.

I added a little button to the flower and embellished it with some orange Divine Twine from iCopic.com

And at the bottom, the words were stamped from the For Every Woman stamp set. I just repeatedly stamped the "and ever" from the stamp stamp using an omitting technique.

And to make the pearly polka dots, I used Smooch pearlized accent ink. It was actually really easy to use! It comes in a bottle that looks just like nail polish and so I just used the little brush to dab on the dots! So much fun!!
